Bots generally have a 'johndoe' name scheme and their movements are incredibly easy to notice once you take a minute to just look at them.

It does, but it prioritizes getting into matches faster than balanced skill so games can be wild. If you want actual sbmm then just go play competitive actual sbmm in competitive? Engagement optimized match making ( eomm ) is what it feels like in practice. I understand losing matches , but the extent and reoccurring trends i see with my loses are :
1) getting que'd with teammates who are on a lose streak when i'm on a winning streak. The game just launched, having ranked placements out of the gate is silly because nobody knew anything. Maybe season 1 and onward will have placements, we'll have to wait and see. But no placement matches for season 0 is fine.

9/10 matches i have nothing but mouthbreathers on my team.
They do the typical, don't play on the point, chase, dps that can't hit the broad side of a barn, healers that are trying to dps more than heal and tanks that just dive into massive group with no healer (if the did heal) in sight. For example, a rank 90 player should have an equal winrate against other rank 90 players and a much higher winrate against a rank 40 player.
